Make sure you click through the form to discover how to advocate and register your submission.
Who We Are
The Tax Receipt Tool is an independent, nonpartisan project by Original Position, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building technology that helps individuals align their money with their values. This is an early-stage prototype built to test how personalized budget transparency might increase civic understanding and action.
How It Works
We use publicly available federal budget data from the Congressional Budget Office, the White House’s Office of Management and Budget, and the IRS. For our MVP, we use historical spending for FY2023 and default income assumptions based on national averages.
We’re planning to add more precise customization, state-level tax breakdowns, and budget projections for the coming year.

Fulfilment Through Purpose
Fulfilment isn’t just personal; it’s deeply connected to how we engage with the world around us. When you understand where your money goes, and align it with what you believe in, you reclaim a sense of agency that modern life often strips away. Civic clarity gives you more than information; it gives you the chance to act with purpose. And purpose, research shows, is one of the most powerful and lasting sources of fulfilment we have.
When citizens understand how public money is spent - and how that aligns with their values - they are more likely to vote, give, and advocate in ways that shape a better future. We believe tools like this can build a more empathetic and accountable democracy. This MVP is our first step in proving that theory.
